Are you familiar with such thoughts? Yes, there are often people without goals and desires. Who just go with the flow. It's hard to even call them alive. Often such people begin to drink and degrade. Why does this happen?

Main reasons

When does the “I want nothing” state come?

  1. Overwork. The man is simply not strong enough. And desires require energy. The busy rhythm of life often causes such indifference.
  2. From childhood, we were never asked about our desires, only something else was imposed on us.
  3. We are accustomed to passivity. We don't want to decide anything. We don't want to think, act... It's much easier to go with the flow.
  4. We have already fulfilled our wishes. And felt their senselessness.

Influence of upbringing

Many of us grew up in an authoritarian environment. Absolutely everything was imposed on us from childhood! We have just been born - and they are already imposing a feeding regime on us (remember, then they fed by the hour?), In a separate room and only in exceptional cases.

We are barely a year or two old - we fall. And there, in addition to the regime, there are clear set games, activities, everyone sculpts classic “mushrooms” and draws flowers. Not around, of course. But often.

We went to school - the authoritarian influence intensified even more. Now we must study specific subjects according to specific rules. Nobody cares what we want at the moment. There is only a mountain of unfulfilled lessons and grades in the diary.

The more we grow, the more often we are forbidden to desire. Do you want to go for a walk with your friends? No! Get down to math! Like to build something from the constructor? No! We plan to speak Russian! For the older generation, perhaps, everything was still not so tough with studies ... But modern schoolchildren are so busy that they have almost no opportunity to do what they love.

But besides the daily imposition, there is something else. Even more serious. This is the imposition of certain views and life goals.

And it's good if these are good human principles (honesty, justice, etc.) or faith in God. But more often than not, we are forced to do something else.

We are told what we should be. How to work, what to live for. And in most cases, the emphasis is on money. WITH early years it is suggested that the main thing is to make good money. Find a high-paying job, a rich husband, get three degrees.

And it’s not even about the fact that it’s difficult to earn a lot with such upbringing, since authoritarian upbringing only teaches you to obey and turn off your brains ... Suppose a person has done everything according to plan.

Graduated from school with a gold medal. And a university with honors. Found a great job. Married, had children. And he made a million. What's next? And then the person does not know what to do with this million. He doesn't even know what he wants from life. He only carried out a certain plan. Fulfilled other people's expectations. And he will not find happiness in this ...

No, I don't mind a million! I am for it! But... A million is a bad goal. It can be a means... For example, a person's dream is to create a strong family and raise godly children. In this case, the money will be very useful. But the focus will not be on the finances themselves and not on the new car. And for the family.

In addition, with the help of a million you can help people. Heal the sick, feed the hungry. Or renovate the school.

Values

I hope I conveyed the point correctly. Not only has no one been interested in our desires since childhood, but we are also slipped empty goals: dreams of cars, houses and bank accounts. And the first thing we need to do is get closer to ourselves. Be more attentive to yourself. Explore your interests, emotions, desires. What inspires you? After what cases do you feel energized?

And the second important thing to do is to find solid values. Understand what is really valuable to you, what makes sense?

The ideal option is to rely on God. And if you have faith, develop it! Look for meaning, support, inspiration in it! After all, by and large, everything earthly is temporary. And it can't make sense. And faith—real faith—is what gives all life a purpose. Sets a clear direction, helps not to get lost, indicates the course.

Of course, one cannot artificially create faith in oneself. Faith is grace! The greatest mercy of the Almighty! But we can all get it. Therefore, pray! Pray that the Lord will give you faith, wisdom and patience to follow the spiritual path.
